David Simon, President of the Los Angeles Sports Council, has played a significant role in virtually every major sporting event that has been brought to the Los Angeles area in the last 20 years.  In lists published in the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Business Journal he has been recognized as one of the area’s most influential sports executives.

Under his leadership, the Sports Council has been the area’s driving force behind successful bids for events which have generated more that $1 billion in local economic impact, including the Super Bowl, the Breeders’ Cup and finals of both the World Cup and Women’s World Cup in Soccer.

He has been active in international sports since 1977 when he became involved in Los Angeles’ bid to host the 1984 Olympic Games.  The Olympics have played a significant part in his career ever since.  From 1979 to 1984 he served as Vice President of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee; from 1989 to 1999 as Chair or Co-Chair of the International Relations Committee for the United States Olympic Committee; and from 1999 to 2001 as President of the Los Angeles 2012 Bid Committee, responsible for preparing the City’s bid for those Games.  He has attended nine Olympic Games.

Mr. Simon is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UCLA and the UCLA School of Law.
