Barry SandersBarry A. Sanders is Executive Counsel at the global law firm of  Latham & Watkins. He has been among the United States’ leading international corporate lawyers and is a respected Los Angeles community leader. In 2001 he received the Learned Hand Award for leadership in the legal profession. In 1999 the University of Southern California awarded him the Medal of Honor for his contributions to music and the arts.

His legal and community service careers have included special emphases on sports and the Olympic Games. From 1979 to 1984, he served as primary outside counsel to the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. He has represented such sports organizations as the America’s Cup Organizing Committee, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Goodwill Games, the 1994 World Cup, the Amateur Athletic Foundation, the ARCO Olympic Training Center, the Los Angeles Sports Council and the Salt Lake City Olympic Organizing Committee.

Mr. Sanders is a leader in numerous civic and charitable organizations. He has been President and Chairman of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and of the Los Angeles Public Library Foundation. In 1992 and 1993 he served as Co-Chair of Rebuild LA.  In addition, he has been on the Executive Committees of the Boards of the Los Angeles Performing Arts Center, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall Corporation, among others. He is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Visitors of the UCLA Medical School and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International Policy. He is an adjunct professor at UCLA’s College of Letters and Science, where he teaches courses entitled “The Images of America Around the World” and “Architecture as Non-Verbal Communication.”

Mr. Sanders is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and of the Yale Law School.
